‘Leaders Build Day’ brings volunteers together to construct home for Rochester family

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Local business and community leaders came together Friday to build a home for a good cause.
It was “Leaders Build Day,” with Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity. The volunteers worked side-by-side to build a Habitat home on Garson Avenue in Rochester.
“Those are the kind of people that you want moving into neighborhoods, that are gonna care about the home they’re moving into, care about the neighborhood they’re moving into,” said Ted Messner from Messner Flooring.
Messner was among the volunteers who participated in the build. Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to house communities by building homes from the ground up.

Rochester, N.Y. — The Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity celebrated a major milestone Wednesday as a local mother became the organization's 350th homeowner.
Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity is expanding its reach to help more people achieve the dream of homeownership. The organization has now been certified by the federal government as an official housing counseling agency.
